THE ROAD SO FAR
In the beginning...
NET Ministries started in 1981, in the United States, in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. In 2004, the then director of NET Canada, James Mikulasik, came to Ireland having the impression that Ireland was 'the land of Saints and scholars'. James, while walking through the city, saw the need for Jesus in the young people. After seeing what was happening in the youth, he founded NET Ireland.
In 2004, he sent his first team to Ireland from NET Canada including the renowned Matt and Cameron Fradd.
2007 marked the first year of the mission being incorporated as a completely Irish entity. In 2012, the first Irish director took lead of the ministry.
Today, NET has individual entities in the USA, Canada, Australia, Uganda, Scotland and Ireland.
As a mission, we are conscious that we stand on holy ground in so many different ways. Primarily, God has charged us with the mission of carrying His love to the young people we encounter, in this beautiful country, in the course of our work. In a second and very profound way we witness the work that He does in each person’s heart and soul as they are stretched by what He asks of them through their year with NET Ministries. We watch you become who He had planned for you, since He carved you on the palm of His hand.
Regardless of what an alumni chooses to do with the rest of your life, your name is written across the hearts and minds of those you came across while here. You are also remembered and honoured by those of us who come after you in NET Ministries Ireland. We are grateful to you and for you.
