Carmel Taren Hogan
My name is Carmel, I'm 18 years old, and I'm the fourth eldest in a family of 10 children. I grew up in a small village in County Limerick called Knockainey. It was here, in the beautiful, quiet Limerick countryside that I was Baptised and formed in the Catholic faith.
Our house is not a quiet house, to say the least. It's a house where you'll nearly always hear someone (or a few people) playing an instrument or singing- we love music! The instrument I love, and have learnt to play is the piano. Playing music is a way of praying that I find speaks so powerfully, sometimes even more so than words! Often, when I can't find the right words to pray, sitting down at the piano and playing music is the perfect remedy.
I also love cooking and learning recipes from my mother and grandmother, aswell as spending time in the outdoors!
I just did my Leaving Cert this year, which marks the end of Secondary school, and I decided spend a year as a missionary with Net ministries before going to college. I'm really excited to see what this year is going to be like and can't wait to meet and learn from all the other missionaries!
